Modern Electric has been supplying the Rocky Mountain House area with appliances and electrical since 1937. We had our humble begins in a small shop on Main Street and in 1998 we moved to our larger present location. Our current owners, Ron and Chris, are the fourth owners since we opened over 80 years ago. Over the years, Modern Electric has trained, and employed more than 60 electricians. We were awarded ‘Employer of the Year’ for the southern part of Alberta in 2003 and as well as recognized for our involvement in the school RAP program. Currently, Modern Electric has 1 Master Electrician, 5 Journeyman, 5 Apprentices, and 5 office staff. Modern Electric also has one Appliance Service Journeyman who services appliances in the Rocky Mountain House and surrounding area.
Modern Electric loves to be involved and support our community. We have donated to silent auctions, purchased 4-H beef, sponsored events and donated appliances, material and labour.
Some of our larger products that we have worked on recently include the renovation of the Rimbey Co-op, Rustic River Resort and the Mountain Rose Women’s Shelter.
